Seamless Maritime Shipping Services Between the Far East and Libya Through Misurata Free Zone Port

As part of efforts to reinforce its strategic role in the Mediterranean and strengthen its position as a gateway to African markets, the Misurata Free Zone Port today received the container vessel “GUO ZHI HAI”, operated by the global shipping line COSCO Shipping, under the maritime service linking China and Libya.

The vessel’s arrival marks a significant step toward establishing a new phase of direct maritime connectivity between the Far East and Libya, aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency, facilitating trade flows, and reducing cargo transit times by minimizing reliance on traditional transshipment ports.

The vessel has a capacity of 800 import containers and 800 export containers and an overall length of 300 meters. It is among the modern vessels operating within the regular shipping service fleet, which is scheduled to operate twice monthly, with the next voyage expected on 10 June.

The direct shipping service was launched on 6 May, establishing a direct connection between Chinese and Libyan ports through MFZ Port, with the objective of enhancing the flow of maritime trade and supporting import and export activities between the two countries.
