New Investment to Strengthen Engineering Industries and Expand Access to African Markets

Misurata Free Zone has signed a new investment agreement with MEKA Global, a Turkish manufacturer specializing in concrete batching plants and crushing and screening equipment. Under the agreement, the company will establish and operate a major branch within Misurata Free Zone.

Founded in Türkiye in 1987, MEKA designs and manufactures equipment and plants for the concrete and aggregates industries. The company has built an international presence spanning more than 110 countries, with over 4,500 plants and installations worldwide.

The new investment is expected to support Libya’s construction and contracting sector by bringing part of MEKA’s manufacturing, assembly, and technical service operations closer to the local market. The project is also expected to create employment opportunities and provide technical training for local professionals.

The project further strengthens Misurata Free Zone’s position as an industrial and logistics platform connecting the Libyan market with African markets. With its strategic location and integrated port capabilities, the Free Zone provides a strong base for trade, industrial operations, and re-export activities across the region.
