Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce Begins Operations in Misurata with First MoU
Following the recent opening of its headquarters in the Misurata Free Zone, the Italian-Libyan Chamber of Commerce has officially begun operating from its office in the Administrative Business District, signing its first memorandum of understanding with the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Umbria and Marche in Italy.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in animal health, food security and veterinary training. Mr. Nicola Colicchi signed on behalf of the Chamber, and Mr. Stefano Petrini on behalf of the Institute.
The MoU seeks to advance scientific and technical cooperation between the two sides. It provides for the exchange of expertise and epidemiological data, the strengthening of Libya’s veterinary laboratories through technology transfer, improved methods for diagnosing and controlling animal diseases, and quality and safety monitoring of food products of animal origin.
It also covers training and capacity-building programs for staff in laboratories and relevant institutions, the exchange of experts and technical visits, and support for studies and initiatives that improve animal health and reinforce biosecurity and food safety.
On the economic front, the agreement paves the way for business meetings between Italian companies and Libyan operators, as well as joint ventures.
The signing marks the Chamber’s practical start of work from its Misurata Free Zone headquarters. It reflects the Chamber’s role as a direct link between institutions and companies, following up on agreements and turning opportunities for Libyan-Italian cooperation into tangible partnerships and projects.
